UVine spiral staircase is formed by interlocking U and V shaped box profiles in an alternating fashion. This way, the staircase becomes self-supporting since it does not need a center pole or perimeter support. The awning, with its rounded shape, completely integrates in any design building construction. The inspiration for this design comes from Previtop’s close relationship with architecture and the care about living spaces. However, this design was a completely new challenge because it is the result of the first insight with European and safety norms. Thus, this piece proposes to revolutionize the way the firefighting material is devised, contributing to a reduction of visual noise and seeking to articulate a harmonious dialogue with the surroundings.

Two sources of inspiration were involved: the bold geometry of traditional Chinese brass hardware and antique door lockset. Designer has reinterpreted these fundamental elements into a contemporary modern design aesthetics. The standard brass finishes provide various material options such as dark bronze, titanium and black matt, representing the traditional, industrial and contemporary style respectively to match with different interior design.

The project is a series of experiments with the aim of humanizing concrete. Throughout the experiments, the designer is focusing on the possibilities of overcoming the negative stereotypes associated with concrete and how to create a new, more pleasant and softer look for a generally industrial material. Another aim is to offer alternatives of innovative concrete wall coverings with new visual experience for interior designers.

This design, in addition to providing sound absorption through its materials, unique form and modular structure, has technical specifications that can include a lighting system. Thus, the design offers one aesthetically pleasing and economical system that provides both acoustic treatment and functional and decorative lighting.
